The latest climate change conference, #cop27egypt just ended. Aside from promises of cutting emissions and electric vehícles, and frustrations about the pace of progress, there seems to be a clear winner, and that is China. Not only has the biggest reserves of #rareearthelements, used in batteries, panels and almost every piece of infrastructure related to #cleanenergytransition. As you can see in the chart below, China also has the biggest manufacturing capacity of #solarpanel cells, silicon, #wafers and panels. It is also the biggest manufacturer in the world of #electricvehicles and it’s extending its reach into #Africa to have access to resources they don’t already have. The level of dependency of the world to China is increasing at worrisome levels.
