Value vs growth

The debate between #valueinvesting and #growthinvesting is very much present today. After years of growth dominance, value style was getting ahead, only to suffer another rotation into growth, which is currently dominating. But is it? The chart below breaks style investing by size, using the #russell1000 for big caps (blue line) and the #russell2000 for small and mid caps (yellow line). It simply shows the performance of growth minus value for both indices since inception on 1979. As you can see, growth has dominated on the big cap space, but it’s value that has outperformed in the small and mid cap universe. Perhaps you may want to have a barbell approach to equities by style differentiating by size. Furthermore, #quality investing has outperformed both styles, growth and value, consistently over the last 40 years.
